Tracy A. Barlup was born and raised in Waynesboro, PA. She obtained a bachelor’s degree and a veterinary medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. So, Tracy is a veterinarian by training and became interested in alpacas in 2003 after meeting a local alpaca breeder, Bert Kramer. Alpacas originate form Peru, Bolivia and Chile. They are raised for their fur, known as fiber, which is revered as a luxury fabric by people all over the world. She purchased her first alpaca, Gidget, in 2004 and things grew (literally) from there. Tracy currently owns 19 alpacas and plans to grow her herd even further.
